In June, 1937, an Industrial Hygiene Unit was established by the State Board of Health (WIHV85-A531), operated with funds allocated by the Federal Government under the Social Security Act. By 1940 the unit had been renamed the Industrial Hygiene Division. In 1959 the division was renamed the Division of Occupational Health (WIHV91-A689).
